With over 20 years of experience serving underprivileged and overlooked populations, Erica Transou has dedicated her career to meeting the needs of individuals and families across a wide range of healthcare settings. From supporting children and families to addressing inmate recidivism, mental health, and geriatric care, Erica’s work reflects her deep commitment to empowering others and building trust and confidence in the communities she serves.
A graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Performance, Erica furthered her expertise by earning a Master’s Degree in Health Promotion from the University of Memphis. She currently serves as a Licensure Investigator for the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, where her role ensures quality and compliance in mental health and addiction services. Erica’s interpersonal skills, leadership, and compassion have allowed her to make meaningful impacts, helping individuals tackle academic challenges such as GED attainment, college enrollment, and retention, as well as addressing social issues like poverty and unemployment and emotional struggles including addiction and mental illness. As Treasurer of the Beyond Educating Foundation, Erica brings exceptional attention to detail, financial acumen, and a heart for service to the organization’s mission. Her extensive experience and passion for equitable access to education and resources make her a vital part of the Foundation’s leadership team, ensuring sustainable growth and positive community impact. |
